Yesterday turned out VERY differently then it was supposed to. After Little C's last soccer game, the plan was for the boys to make the 3.5 hour drive to a professional MLS game. During Little C's game, Big C gets a text with a picture from a friend saying he was at the very game the boys were going to later that night. Well...the game was at 1pm, not 7pm like we some how thought. Needless to say, the boys didn't go.
Us girls were bummed. We had a whole evening planned. Hubby K knew this so he told us to keep our plans and we did! I let the girls plan our outing. We went to several antique shops that they thought would be intersting and then we went to Red Lobster for dinner. Afterward, we did some shopping before heading home.
I am taking Big M to Women's Conference at BYU this next weekend so Hubby K will take the kids to the MLS game next weekend to make up for it.
Today after church, Kai had his first "discussion" with the missionaries. He was a little surprised when they showed up and they were girls. He, apparently, was expecting boys. I knew one of two things would happen. He would either shut completely down or he would warm up to them. I am happy to report that he warmed up to them. We also had a gentleman in our ward who speaks mandarin come just in case we needed some things clarified in mandarin. They taught Kai the basics of Jesus Christ. It was great because it was all things he had been taught by us already so it was a good way to ease him in getting comfortable with the sister missionaries. His next discussion is next Sunday.
My greatest hope is that by learning about our Savior and embracing his teachings, he will begin to heal. I pray he will open his heart and mind to really feel the things that would help him leave his past behind and move forward with sure knowledge that our Father in Heaven loves him even with being dealt a crappy hand the first several years of his life.
