This just cracks me up. Hopefully, no one will find offense. I just think it's hilarious.
Kai has a mandarin copy of The Book of Mormon. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon church), we believe The Book of Mormon to be the word of God just as we do the King James version of the Bible. When Kai refers to our church, he calls it The Book of Mormon church. When he refers to people in our church, he refers to them as a Book of Mormon family. For example, Caden's friend ZH is Mormon so Kai says he is a Book of Mormon family.
Coffee is something Kai talks about often. He talks about coffee in China and how it is expensive. A while back, I told him that in our church, we don't drink coffee. I told him it doesn't make people bad to drink coffee...we just don't do it in our church because we have been asked not to.
At school, Kai's ESL teacher was drinking something. Kai asked her if it was coffee. She said it was and he told her, "Oh, you no Book of Mormon family." He came home from school and told me about it about a week ago. Can't remember if I blogged that one or not.
Tonight, he was asking about which ones of Caden's friends are Book of Mormon family. We named off a couple and then Kai named off two and said, "They go to coffee church?" In his mind, there are two Christian churches...the kind that drink coffee and the kind who don't.
