Kai is now a US citizen!
My mother met us at the airport since she was already in the area at my brother's house and brought Kai a badminton set (his favorite sport) and an American flag.
He handled the whole trip fine until we were going up the escalator to go to the car and he took a pretty good spill after losing his balance. Poor guy but he handled it well. He has nice elevator marks on his left arm and scraped up his ankle.
Literally within 3 minutes of being in the car, he was asleep and stayed asleep the entire 4 hour drive home. After getting out of the car and just waking up, one of dogs knocks him off balance and knocks him down. Poor guy...two falls in one day and we have never seen him lose his balance before. I really think he was just plain exhausted.
I think he was a little overwhelmed at first but he seemed to like his room. Within an hour and a half of being home, he was unpacking his things in his new room and organizing it. He gave me several photos from his friends back in Sanmenxia so we are going to go get him some collage frames tomorrow to hang them on his wall.
It feels so good to be home and soon good to have him with us. He smiled when he saw his picture already hanging on the wall. Little does he know it has been there for a year.
